A 12-year-old boy was involved in a collision with a motorbike outside Macmillan Academy on Stockton Road and suffered an injury to his leg.
The rider of the motorbike failed to stop at the scene and instead made off from the area.
It occurred at approximately 3.20pm on Tuesday 4 February.
Officers investigating the collision are appealing for information that could lead to the identity of the rider and released a photo of the bike.
PC Moffitt, from Matrix’s roads policing unit, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the bike and who owns it or is known to ride it.
“I also would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision and has information or footage that could assist with our enquiries.
“If you can help, please contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting reference number 020625.”
