Four people were arrested and a firearm seized by Matrix officers in incidents over the last day.
On Wednesday 15th January around 11:55am, officers arrested a 17-year-old boy and recovered a firearm and ammunition from a vehicle that was stopped following a report of a 2-in-1 burglary in Redcar.
A Vauxhall Astra which was suspected stolen in a burglary earlier that day failed to stop for officers. Following a short pursuit, the Astra collided with a police vehicle on West Dyke Road.
A 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with driving whilst disqualified, dangerous driving, no insurance, possession of a class A drug and possession of a class C drug. He is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court today (Thursday 16th January).
The male remains on bail for other suspected offences including burglary and possession of a firearm.
A second male made off from the vehicle. Enquiries are ongoing to identify this male by Redcar CID officers.
In Thornaby, around 1:25am this morning (Thursday 16th January), Matrix officers on the look out for a suspected stolen van spotted a vehicle matching the description which then made off from police. A short time later the vehicle came to a stop and the driver made off on foot.
A 30-year-old man was arrested nearby and later charged with failing to stop when required by police and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court in February.
Less than an hour later, around 2:15am, officers spotted a vehicle on the A174 that was suspected of being stolen earlier in the evening in the Hartlepool area.
The Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop for officers and after a short pursuit, a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of taking without consent. Both remain in police custody at this time.
