24-year-old Ellis Dismore from Middlesbrough has today been sentenced to a total of 43 years in custody at Teesside Crown Court for more than twenty offences against a number of young girls (Wednesday 8 January 2025).
Dismore was convicted in 2023 of the attempted murder of a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Premier Road in Middlesbrough, who he had groomed online.
He left threatening and disturbing messages for her family members before carrying out the attack, which left the girl with a number of stab wounds as she got off a school bus and went home. Luckily, a passing motorist intervened and took the girl to the safety of her mother.
Following this, Dismore was convicted in November 2024 of a further 16 offences relating to grooming and stalking girls, who were identified as part of an investigation by Cleveland Police following the attempted murder.
Dismore used fake online profiles to pose as a teenager and then would incite victims to send him indecent images of themselves, before making threats to share them if they refused his further requests. He had also attempted to meet with them to engage in sexual activity and made threats if they refused.

Speaking outside of court today, Detective Sergeant Andrew Hamilton, from Cleveland Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) said: “First and foremost, I would like to commend the bravery of the women and girls who came forward and gave evidence about their traumatic experiences at the hands of Ellis Dismore.
“It would not have been easy for them and their families’ to have to go through the investigation and court process, and I thank them for both their support and patience during this time.
“Over a period of seven years, Dismore used fake social media accounts to groom and stalk a number of young girls and enticed them into sending indecent images. He made vile threats towards them and sent sickening voice notes threatening to rape and stab them.
“Dismore’s offending escalated when he attacked one 15-year-old girl in the street with a knife in a terrifying assault as she went home from school, leaving her with serious injuries. Had she not been saved by a courageous passer-by, she could have lost her life.
“This incident led to the discovery of other girls who had been preyed on by Dismore and stalked and harassed via social media.
“I am pleased with the sentence handed to Dismore today. He is a violent predator and now that he is in prison he can no longer pose a danger to women and girls in our community.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind parents and guardians that if they would like any advice on how to help keep children safe online, this can be found on the Cleveland Police website – www.cleveland.police.uk”
