A 40-year-old man has been charged and detained to appear at court tomorrow after detectives from Stockton CID investigated a report of an attempted robbery on an 89-year-old man.
It was alleged to have taken place at a bus stop near the Hardwick Pub on High Newham Road yesterday afternoon (Saturday 25th January).
Detectives interviewed the man throughout the night and in the early hours of today he was charged with attempted robbery and with a public order offence.
He will remain in custody until his appearance at Teesside Magistrates’ Court.
