The collision involved a 15-year-old boy, who was riding an electric scooter, and a BMW car.
It took place at approximately 8.20am on Friday 17 January at the junction of Normanby Road and Park Avenue.
The rider of the scooter did not sustain a serious injury however he was taken to hospital for treatment to his leg.
A number of checks were carried out to find the scooter was uninsured and it was therefore seized by officers.
Officers would like to remind members of the public of the legal requirements and dangers of riding scooters and electric bikes.
Both are not for use on the road without relevant registration, insurance and license.
If you believe a bike is being used illegally, please report it by contacting Cleveland Police on 101 or visiting the website.
Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
