Ethan Bowes, of Woodhouse Road in Guisborough, chose to be part of the disorder by throwing items at the line of police officers on Sunday 4 August.
Footage played to the court, showed the 19-year-old walking along Victoria Road in the town and on spotting a police van with two officers nearby, threw an item at them and then can be seen running away.
He was also captured on CCTV walking on Linthorpe Road while swinging an item around. As Bowes reached Granville Road, he swung the item and threw it at officers lined across the street, gave a hand gesture and then carried on walking.
On Friday 17 January, Bowes appeared at Teesside Crown Court to be sentenced to 21 months after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.
