A 51-year-old man was to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 10th June) after detectives from Redcar CID charged him with two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (cocaine) and with possession of a Class B drug (amphetamines).
At around 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon (8th June) officers spotted a black Land Rover Discovery allegedly travelling at speed on the A171 in Guisborough, and they followed it stopping it on Little Acre Road.
They informed the male driver he would be searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act whereupon the man allegedly attempted to make off from police however he was detained nearby.
The man was arrested after suspected drugs were found within the vehicle.
He was later interviewed and charged with the three drugs offences and he was remanded in custody until his court appearance.
The vehicle was seized and further enquiries are ongoing.
