A 36-year-old man was remanded after appearing at court charged with a number of offences which were reported to police over the past month.
They include reports of:
The theft of goods from B&M on the Trunk Road on 8th May.
A robbery at Boots on Skippers Lane on 9th May where nearly £200 of beauty products were allegedly taken and a security guard reported being assaulted as they tried to intervene.
A robbery on 14th May where it’s alleged he attempted to steal nearly £300 of steaks from Lidl in Guisborough. It was reported that a woman who intervened was assaulted and sustained injuries to her hand and eye.
Theft of goods from the Esso Garage, Grangetown on 27th May.
And an alleged robbery at an address on Kingsley Close in Grangetown in the early hours of Sunday 8th June where a woman reported being held down then robbed by a male intruder. The victim alleged the man struck her on the hands and lower leg with a hammer.
The suspect was arrested by officers on patrol in Grangetown on the evening of Sunday 8th May. During searches, a knife was located and he was therefore further arrested for possession of a bladed article in a public place.
After interview by detectives from Redcar CID he was charged with two robberies, one attempted robbery, four counts of thefts from shops, assault, sexual assault by touching and possession of a bladed article.
The man was remanded until he appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (12th June), from where he was further remanded.
