Detectives and Scenes of Crime Officers are currently searching a grassed area on Staindale Road in Thornaby after children playing on the grass found what is believed to be bullets buried there yesterday (Monday 16th June) at around 5:30pm.
The area was cordoned off overnight whilst officers carry out an investigation into the origins of what was found. The items have been seized and will be sent away for forensic testing.
