Detectives from Redcar & Cleveland CID are appealing for information and footage after two youngsters were assaulted and had an electric scooter stolen from them.
The 11 and 12-year-old friends were left shaken after the incident which happened on the “Black Path” between Caithness Road and Flatts Lane in Normanby. One boy sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital to be checked over.
The boys were on the Black Path at around 5.20pm yesterday, Thursday 13th March, when they were approached by a group of four or five boys, described as around 13 or 14-years-old, one of whom was wearing a grey bodywarmer.
Members of the public came to the victims’ aid, and we’d also urge them to contact us.
The scooter was recovered further along the Black Path towards Flatts Lane, hidden in bushes to the rear of The Hastings and Bridge Court.
Anyone with information, local doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage which may help our ongoing enquiries is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number, quoting ref 044205.
If you don’t want to speak to police, you can pass information anonymously to www.crimestoppers-uk.org or phone them on 0800 555 111.
