Two women were taken to hospital after a crash in Hartlepool earlier today, Wednesday 5th March, whereby one vehicle left the scene.
The incident happened around 12:50pm on Easington Road, towards the junction with West View Road.
Three vehicles were involved, one of which (a silver Volkswagen Golf) was later found abandoned off Warren Road, having been driven away from the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the driver of this car.
Two elderly women aged in their eighties, one who was a passenger in a grey Volkswagen Golf and one who was driving a white Renault Captur, were extracted from the vehicles and were taken to James Cook University Hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. The male driver of the grey VW Golf was also taken to hospital to be checked over.
The road was reopened around 2:10pm.
