Police received a number of calls regarding a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on the A66 and A19 Tees flyover around 12:30pm on Sunday 9th March.
The vehicle was lost on the A19 and around 12:55pm, the black MG was located on Port Clarence Road and was seized by police.
A number of males are reported to have made off on foot from the vehicle towards the Transporter Bridge.
An area search carried out by officers was negative, however, enquiries are ongoing to locate those responsible.
