We’re reminding flatbed, pickup and truck drivers to ensure loads are being transported safely after our officers had to deal with two incidents of debris on the carriageway on Friday morning.
They also identified and dealt with two insecure loads.
One of these involved our officers on active patrols in Middlesbrough seeing a Ford Transit which was carrying a load which wasn’t correctly secured.
They stopped the vehicle and then found there was no valid insurance in place. The driver, who has only had his licence for under a year, was therefore reported to court for driving without valid insurance and for having an insecure load.
The vehicle was seized due to the lack of insurance and the driver could face disqualification due to the number of points he has accrued.
Matrix Inspector Scott Pearson said: “We have recently run a two-week commercial vehicle operation but clearly the message is still not reaching some of our desired audience.
“I hope by publishing this reminder we can educate the wider public as well as reach this intended audience and repeat offenders.
“Drivers are responsible for ensuring their load is correctly secured and failing in to do so could result in three points and a £100 fine or being summonsed to court.”
