Our Proactive Team officers were patrolling Redcar High Street last Tuesday morning when they saw a man and woman acting suspiciously.
The pair was stop searched and officers recovered 27 wraps of crack cocaine with a street value of £540, cash, a mobile phone and a knife.
The 43-year-old man and the 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and taken into custody for questioning.
Subsequent house searches saw police discovering further large quantities of suspected class C drugs and associated paraphernalia.
The man was charged with the drugs offence and remanded to appear at court the following day.
The woman was charged with possession of a bladed article and bailed pending further enquiries regarding the alleged drug offence. However as she was wanted on recall to prison, she was returned there.
We would urge anyone with knowledge of drug dealing in their community to report to Cleveland Police via the force website or by phoning 101.
If you don’t want to speak to police, you can pass information anonymously to www.crimestoppers-uk.org or phone them on 0800 555 111.
