On Tuesday afternoon officers from the Proactive Team were carrying out patrols when they spotted a motorbike with no numberplate.
The 16-year-old rider was safely detained on Station Road in Redcar and checks at the scene revealed the silver Yamaha had been stolen last month. The boy was therefore arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle.
After several grip seal bags of cannabis, cash and two phones were recovered in subsequent searches, the teenager was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
He was later bailed whilst further enquiries take place.
