At around 5.40pm yesterday (Sunday 25th May) officers attended an address on Valiant Way in Thornaby after receiving a report that the house was approached by suspects who set fire to an outhouse in the back garden.
They also smashed the windows at the back of the house and a 42-year-old man was assaulted in the process.
The suspects then fled from the address, possibly in a black Alfa Romeo. They left the victim with what are believed to be minor injuries to his head.
Enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal for any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, as well as anyone with doorbell, dash cam or private CCTV footage which could help, to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 094194.
If you don’t want to speak to police you can pass information anonymously to independent charity www.crimestoppers-uk.org or phone them on 0800 555 111.
