Second Cyber Crime ‘Pop up Shop’

Between 10am and 3pm, on Monday 25th January 2016/ Barclays Bank, High Street, Stockton

Following a successful event in November, a second ‘Pop up Shop’ event will be held to raise awareness of cybercrime in conjunction with Barclays Bank, North East Regional Cyber Crime Unit (NERCCU) and the Economic Crime Unit.

The event will be held to raise awareness of cybercrime, particularly online fraud, and to highlight measures that the public can take to protect themselves.

The ‘Pop up Shop’ will take place between 10am and 3pm at Barclays Bank on the High Street in Stockton where Barclay’s experts and the NERCCU will be in attendance to give advice.

Members of the public can also have their digital devices checked to make sure that they have updated software and anti virus installed.

Detective Inspector Dave Turnbull of Cleveland Police Economic Crime Unit said: “Our last ‘Pop up Shop’ was very successful with plenty of people attending. Cybercrime is more prevalent these days and the ‘Pop up Shop’ is an excellent way of raising awareness of the most common types of cyber crime.

“We received excellent feedback after the last event as people wanted to know how they can better protect themselves by taking some simple steps and precautions.”

Note: This event is open to all and is not exclusive to Barclay’s Bank customers.
