20-Year-Old Woman Victim to an Attempted Robbery in Thornaby

Police are appealing for information after a 20-year-old woman was the victim of an attempted robbery at 2:30am this morning, Wednesday 27th January.

The incident occurred as the victim was walking over the bridge above the A66 on Thornaby Road in Thornaby when she was grabbed from behind by a man who demanded her mobile phone.

The victim didn’t hand over the phone and ran away. She suffered minor bruising and did not receive medical treatment.

The suspect is described as around a white male, around 22 years old, 5 ft 10” tall, of skinny build with light eyebrows and a pale complexion. He made off in an unknown direction.

It is believed the man was with two other males who were stood in the area at the time of the incident. They were wearing tracksuits. Police would like to speak with these males as they may be able to assist with enquiries.
