Day of Action, Grove Hill, Middlesbrough

Officers from the Community Drugs Enforcement Team (CDET) were joined by neighbourhood officers as they launched a Day of Action in Middlesbrough’s Grove Hill ...

... yesterday (Monday 11th July).

The campaign was in answer to concerns and information received from the community about drug dealing and other crime taking place on the estate.

Three people were arrested following drugs warrants being executed at three separate addresses:

A 21 year old man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.  He was issued with a fixed penalty notice.

A 26 year old man was arrested on suspicion of Possession of a Class C drug with Intent to Supply and on suspicion of money laundering.  He has been bailed pending further inquiries.

A 23 year old woman was arrested on Possession with Intent to Supply a Class C drug and on suspicion of money laundering.  She too has been bailed pending further inquiries.

A small amount of what is believed to be Subutex (the Class C drug) was recovered, along with several thousand pounds cash.

Detective Inspector Steve Kappel of CDET said: “Residents in Grove Hill came forward to tell police about drug dealing and other crime in their community and we took decisive action to tackle these issues.

“I would like to thank all those who provided information and to reassure our communities that we will always act on intelligence about drug dealing which can blight neighbourhoods and make life a misery for the law abiding majority.

“It also sends a clear message that we will not tolerate these crimes and those who persist in breaking the law will be dealt with.”

Information on drug dealing or use can be passed to the Confidential Line on 0800 929 702.
