88-Year-Old Woman’s House Targeted in Distraction Burglary in Marske

Police are appealing for information after a distraction burglary occurred at a property in the Cleveland View area of Marske.

The incident occurred on Tuesday 9th August at 11am when a man attended the 88-year-old’s address and claimed he had lost his ball in the garden of her home and asked if he could look for it.

The victim allowed the man to have a look and she helped him to look for it. As the victim and the man were in the garden a second man entered the property and stole a large quantity of sentimental jewellery which includes:

Gold cygnet ring with single diamond
Gold ring with ruby and diamond stones (five of each)
Gold ring covered with rows of small diamonds
Gold earrings
Gold earrings with a pearl
Gold earrings with double pearls
Gold ring with an emerald and diamond stone
Gold ring with rectangular opal and diamond shoulders
Gold garnet ring with pearls
Gold garnet ring with diamonds
Gold ring with sapphire and diamond stones
Gold engagement ring with 3 diamonds
Gold bracelet 24 carat gold
Pearl covered gold brooch

It is believed similar distraction burglaries have also occurred in the North Yorkshire area and officers are connecting the incidents.
