Duo Jailed for Ten Years Each for Aggravated Burglary

Two men, Shaun Hornsby, aged 48, of Maritime Road, Stockton, and Steven Small, aged 30 of Wembley Way, Stockton, have each been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for ...

..... aggravated burglary.

The incident occurred at a property in Hardwick in Stockton at 7:15pm on Monday 18th April 2016.

The victims were in their home address along with their 4 year old son, when Shaun Hornsby and Steven Small forced their way into the flat armed with a machete and a knife.

Both males demanded money and the victims attempted to barricade themselves into the flat.  One victim jumped out of an upstairs window injuring his ankle, whilst the female and 4-year-old hid under a table.

Detectives from Stockton Volume Crime Team worked together with the victims and the Crown Prosecution Service to bring the case to trial.

Detective Constable Shaun Jackson said: “Firstly, I would like to commend the brave victims in this case for assisting with our enquiries and of providing evidence in this trial. I hope they can now move forward with their lives after their terrifying ordeal, knowing that those responsible are now behind bars.

“The sentences handed to Shaun Hornsby and Steven Small reflect the horrendous crimes they committed. They will now both face a lengthy time in prison, where they can reflect on the offences that they committed and the impact that they have had on their victims.

“Let these sentences stand as a warning to anyone thinking of committing similar offences - aggravated burglary will not be tolerated and we will always look to prosecute those who do carry out such crimes.”
