Appeal to Trace Vehicle Following Fail-to-Stop Collision, Middlesbrough

Police are releasing details of a vehicle potentially involved in a fail-to-stop collision in Middlesbrough, following which an 84-year-old woman sadly died.

The incident happened shortly before 11am yesterday, Wednesday 7th December, and the vehicle did not stop at the scene. The woman was left injured in the car park area of the Parkway Shopping Centre, opposite KFC. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers believe that the vehicle involved may have been a dark blue or black Renault Megane with an 06 or similar registration. The vehicle was potentially a hard-top convertible and following the incident is believed to have left in the direction of the Lingfield Farm Pub on Coulby Farm Way following the incident.

Police would like to appeal to the driver of this vehicle to come forward and assist with their enquiries.

Officers would also ask any drivers who may have been in the Coulby Newham area or the vicinity of the car park or shopping centre around the time of the incident yesterday, who may record dash cam footage, to contact them.

Inspector Ed Turner, from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, said: “We are continuing with enquiries into this incident and we would like to speak to the driver or anyone who has any knowledge of a dark blue or black hard-top convertible Renault Megane, possibly with an 06 registration.

 “I would appeal to any drivers with dash cam footage that may have been in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.”
