High Value Jewellery Stolen In Burglary, Acklam

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who has information about jewellery stolen during a burglary at a house in Thackeray Grove in Acklam (Middlesbrough).

Someone gained access to the house between 12.15pm and 12.45pm on Saturday 7th January while the occupants were out.  The suspect or suspects forced their way in and stole several items of jewellery and a watch.  The items were worth many thousands of pounds.

The items stolen include a yellow metal charm bracelet with 16 yellow metal charms, a diamond line bracelet, a diamond ladies’ wrist watch and a gold set solitaire ring.

Detective Louise Sproson of Middlesbrough’s Volume Crime Team said: “I would like to ask members of the public to think back and call police if they recall seeing anyone acting suspiciously or any unusual vehicles in the area.”

The victim, a gentleman in his 70s, said: “I cannot believe that someone could to this to another human being, especially in the middle of the day.”  He went on to say that the items stolen were of great sentimental value having been bought as well as given as gifts, and that they could not be replaced.”

Anyone with information should contact the Volume Crime Team at Middlesbrough via the 101 number.  You can also pass information on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers via their website at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by phoning 0800 555 111.
