Appeal for CCTV and Dash Cam Footage Following Rape in Redcar

Officers investigating a report of rape in Redcar are making a direct appeal to any witnesses who may have seen...

a woman and her child close to the Lakes Estate or in the Yearby area in Redcar sometime between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Friday 3rd March.

The victim and her child were forced out of a dark coloured saloon vehicle on Kirkleatham Lane, between the turn off for Kirkleatham Museum and the bus stop towards Redcar.

The incident began earlier in the day when two men forced a woman and child into a vehicle.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steve Young, from the Cleveland and North Yorkshire Major Investigation Team, said: “Five days on from this incident, a dedicated team of detectives is continuing with enquiries and are still painstakingly trawling through hours of CCTV.

“I would like to make a direct appeal to anyone who may have seen the victim being forced out of a dark-coloured saloon close to the Lakes Estate on Friday evening or a female and a toddler in that area at that particular time.

“Anyone with private CCTV or dash cam footage who was in the Lakes Estate and Longbeck area between 5.30pm and 6.30pm is asked to come forward and speak to police.”

Extra high visibility patrols are continuing in the local area and the public are still being reminded to remain vigilant. 

The first suspect, who was driving the vehicle, is described as a white male, aged in his late twenties or early thirties, around 5ft 7” to 5ft 10” tall, with short, brown hair, of large build with the word “love” tattooed across his knuckles.

The second suspect, the passenger in the car, is described as a white male, aged in his early twenties, around 5ft 5” to 5ft 6” tall, of medium build, clean shaven and with brown hair. He had a local accent.
