Appeal for Victims in Racist Incident on Bus to Come Forward

Police are appealing for two men described as of Asian appearance to come forward after a third party reported they had suffered racial abuse on a bus. If the men do not want to speak to police, they could report the incident via True Vision via their website www.report-it.org.uk

A member of the public travelling on the No 63 Middlesbrough to Redcar service reported that the two men were verbally abused by a fellow passenger at around 6.25pm on Wednesday 24th May. The two men got off the bus immediately afterwards as it approached Stewart Park. The man who is alleged to have carried out the racial abuse is described as an older white male with white hair and wearing a blue checked shirt, blue body warmer and yellow trousers.

Police would also like any other people from the bus who witnessed the incident to come forward.  Please contact Cleveland Police on 101 with information.

We would like to thank the person who did the right thing and reported this incident to police. Whilst incidents of this type remain low in the Cleveland Police area, officers are determined to protect all sections of our community and will robustly investigate reports of racial harassment.
