Two Men Arrested after Series of Thefts from Vehicles in Ingleby Barwick

Police have arrested two men after a series of thefts from motor vehicles overnight in the Ingleby Barwick area (Thursday 13th July in to Friday 14th July).

Two men aged 27 and 38 were arrested in the area in the early hours of this morning, Friday 14th July. Both remain in custody at this time.

So far police have received five reports of thefts from motor vehicles which were widespread across Ingleby Barwick. All five vehicles are believed to have been left insecure.

Suspected stolen items have been recovered and returned to their owners.

Officers are reminding members of the public to ensure that their vehicles are secure and to keep valuables out of sight.

Detective Sergeant Stu Hodgson, from Stockton Volume Crime Team, said: “It takes a matter of seconds for an opportunist thief to target a vehicle and remove expensive items such as sat navs, wallets, iPads and laptops. Even loose change can tempt someone to break into a car. Simply ensuring that vehicles are locked and that valuables are hidden from view can be enough to stop you from becoming a victim.”

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact DS Stu Hodgson from Stockton Volume Crime Team on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org
