Appeal for Witnesses and for Dog Walker to Come Forward Following Robbery at Tesco Express in Grove Hill

Police are appealing for information after a 57-year-old woman was robbed at a cash machine at Tesco Express on Marton Road in Grove Hill, Middlesbrough.

The incident occurred on Friday 6th October at 8:45pm when a man crouched down near to the cash machine and waited for the victim to dispense money from the machine and once she had, he grabbed some of the money but didn’t manage to grab it all. The man then grabbed the victim by the neck and threw her out of the way and took the rest of the money from the cash point and made off from the scene.

It is believed at the time of the attack a woman with a dog helped the victim and officers would like this woman to come forward as she may be able to assist with enquiries.

The man responsible is described as being a white male, around 5 ft 5” tall and of skinny build and he was wearing a black jacket with a grey hooded top underneath and a white balaclava.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect or the female dog walker is asked to contact DC John Dodsworth on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
