Appeal for Witnesses Following Large Scale Disturbance

Police are appealing for information after a large scale disturbance occurred after two women were victim to racist abuse.

The incident occurred on Craven Street in Middlesbrough on Friday 23rd February at 5:30pm when a vehicle with two male occupants beeped the horn and shouted racial abuse at the two female victims.

Two men who were stood nearby challenged the behaviour of the men in the vehicle which resulted in an altercation between the four men.

One of the men from the vehicle was armed with a metal jack handle and the other was holding a brick and a glass bottle and it is believed one of the men threw the brick at the window of a van belonging to one of the male victims which caused it to break.

A third male who was walking towards the incident at the time of the altercation attempted to try and break the fight up and he was hit over the head with a metal jack handle by one of the male suspects. This resulted in him having a large cut and bump on his forehead.
