Detectives Appeal for Witnesses Following Robbery in Stockton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in Stockton.

The 65-year-old male victim was riding a pedal cycle at around 5.30pm on Thursday 22nd March on Talbot Street when he was hit from behind by a number of youths.

The victim was told to hand over his Carrera pedal cycle and when he refused, he was pulled to the floor and was repeatedly kicked and punched. The man suffered a badly broken leg, a swollen black eye and cuts and bruises to his body. The man remains at the University Hospital of North Tees whilst he awaits surgery.

During the attack a 37-year-old woman came to the victims aid, however, she was also assaulted by being kicked and punched. She suffered minor injuries and also received hospital treatment.

The bike was later recovered by police on Stewart Road in Stockton.

Detectives are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have private CCTV footage which may assist with their enquiries to contact them.
