Second Arrest Made Following Serious Collision on Yarm Back Lane

Police are re-appealing for information after a collision involving a black Seat Ibiza and a black Renault Megane occurred on Yarm Back Lane in Stockton (500m from the junction of Darlington Road).

The collision occurred at 7:55pm on Sunday 15th April resulting in two passengers of the Seat Ibiza being serious injured. The 29-year-old male passenger is being treated for serious chest and spinal injuries. The 22-year-old female passenger is being treated for serious injuries to her shoulder and arm. Both passengers are described as being critical but stable and are being treated at James Cook University Hospital.

The 19-year-old driver of the Renault Megane was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation.

Another arrest has now been made and the 19-year-old driver of the Seat Ibiza has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and other driving offences and has been released under investigation.

Any witnesses who may have seen the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage of the incident is asked to contact Sergeant Glyn Bavin from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 065878.
