Two Arrested Following Spate of Burglaries in Redcar

Police are appealing for information after four properties were burgled and one was victim to an attempted burglary on William Street in Redcar.

The incidents occurred on Wednesday 13th June at around 4:30am. All the occupants were home at the time of the burglaries which led to an alternation between the offenders and a 66-year-old woman in one property and a 78-year-old woman was trapped in a room in another property.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the burglaries. A 36-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of burglary, attempt burglary, false imprisonment and for assaulting two police officers. One of the officers has received treatment for multiple fractures to his hand as a result of the assault.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who saw people acting suspiciously at the time of the burglaries to contact Detective Sergeant Emma Kensey on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event numbers 105752.
