Lock it, don’t lose it

People living in Ingleby Barwick and Thornaby are being reminded to lock sheds, garages and cars after eight thefts over the weekend.

Police are appealing for information after three pedal cycles were stolen from Myton Road and Beckfields Avenue and two scooters were stolen from Badger Lane in Ingleby Barwick.

The stolen scooters are described as one being red and one being blue.  Both had two wheels at the front and one at the back. Both were also fitted with additional lights.  The stolen bikes include a red Carerra Bike with 18” frame and a Black Mountain Bike with ‘Cube’ written in blue valued at around £550.

On Chadderton Drive in Thornaby a garage was burgled with thieves taking a Cube Kho Aim Pro Mountain Bike which was light blue and orange in colour.  The bike was valued at around £400.

There were two thefts of property from cars on Copse Lane and Thorn Close, Ingleby Barwick, and one on Kintyre Drive in Thornaby. Stolen items included Satellite Navigation systems and sunglasses.

Detective Inspector Jon Tapper said: “Hot weather makes it easy for thieves. People are more likely to leave car windows open and garages and sheds unlocked.

“It’s devastating if your personal property or expensive items are taken from your home or car. Don’t think it won’t happen to you, lock up anything you don’t want to lose.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Stockton Operational Crime Team on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
