Man Suffers Serious Injuries after Vehicle Leaves Carriageway

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was injured when the vehicle he was driving left the road in Redcar.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Monday 2nd July on the Trunk Road in Redcar, outside of the ambulance station.

A blue Hyundai I-30 left the carriageway and was located in a hedge.

The male driver, aged 66, was taken to James Cook University Hospital with a serious injury to his lower back. The man remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Any witnesses to the incident, anyone who may have assisted the driver at the scene or anyone who may have dash cam footage is asked to contact PC Kevin Weldon from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 119395.
