Crime Prevention Officers in their Second Week of Operation Phoenix Events

Cleveland Police’s Crime Prevention Officers are onto their second week of events as part of Operation Phoenix.

Crime Prevention Officers are holding events across Cleveland offering advice and showcasing practical and inexpensive equipment to members of the public to improve their security around their homes, vehicles, businesses and gardens.

Operation Phoenixis a summer-long operation to improve public service, help vulnerable people, tackle serious violence and prevent crime.

The first week of events saw five of the seven person team head to Hartlepool, Middlesbrough South Bank, Stockton and Middlesbrough Centre with their advice and information.

Inspector Fay Cole, part of the Community Safety and Engagement Team, said: “Our crime prevention officers are attending a number of different locations across the Force areas to provide valuable crime prevention and safety advice. They can be seen in locations such as banks, bus stations, supermarkets, libraries, shopping centres and community events.

“The officers are promoting the summer campaign ‘While You’re Away’, giving advice on making your home and belongings more secure. There will also be tips on home security, personal and online safety and advice on keeping our rural communities safe.

“Our officers are ready to answer any crime prevention questions – I encourage people to visit our pop-ups in your area.”

This week’s upcoming events will be held in:

·         Hartlepool Central Library from 10am till 12pm on Wednesday 24 July


·         Middlesbrough Bus Station from 10am till 12pm on Thursday 25 July


·         Nationwide in Stockton from 10am till 12pm on Friday 26 July


·         Cleveland Show in Middlesbrough from 10am till 5pm on Saturday 27 July.
