Police and Partners Run Day of Action, South Bank

Officers from Cleveland Police, the North East Regional Special Operations Unit (NERSOU) and GAIN (Government Agency Intelligence Network) ran a day of action in the South Bank area on Friday (7th April 2017).

With input from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Cleveland Fire Brigade, Durham and North Yorkshire police forces and numerous other agencies*, Operation Slate focused on garages, dumped cars, clearing roadsides of unauthorised signs and illegally parked vehicles as well as animal welfare and illegal disposal of scrap.

Police recovered two caravans and a Land Rover Discovery which are believed to have been stolen from rural areas of Cleveland and North Yorkshire.

Temporary Inspector Danny Harrison of Redcar and Cleveland’s Integrated Neighbourhood Team said: “On Friday we and our partners responded to various crime and community issues.  These were having a negative effect on quality of life for the law abiding majority of people.  We looked on the day’s activity as a bit of a “spring clean” and hope the positive effects of our combined actions will continue.”

North-East GAIN Coordinator Peter Constantine added: “This once again shows the value of multi –agency partnership working bringing together partners in joint enforcement action to reduce the threat, risk and harm to individuals, businesses and communities.”
