Operation stops suspected drugs reaching Teesside

Officers from Cleveland Police’s Community Drug Enforcement Team (CDET) today made an arrest as part of an investigation to stop Class A drugs being imported into our area.

The investigation was sparked by the seizure of a parcel by the UK Border Force, which was found to contain controlled drugs. This led to the execution of a number of search warrants at addresses in Pensbury Street, Darlington and Commerce Way, Middlesbrough and the seizure of evidence.

A 38-year-old man from Darlington has been arrested on suspicion of drug offences. The investigation is ongoing.

Detective Inspector Tony Cross said: “Our local warrants led to the discovery of hundreds of tablets, suspected to be Ecstacy. By working with national partners, including the UK Border Force, we have been able to disrupt the supply of drugs to this area and avoid the associated criminal activity.”
