As a result the Force must, in the exercise of our functions, have due regard to the need to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct that is prohibited by the Act.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a characteristic and those who do not.
  • Foster good relations between people who share a characteristic and those who do not.

In order to comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), Cleveland Police publishes an Annual Equality Report which includes a summary of how we have been meeting the PSED requirements through our equality practices and progressing our objectives which are set out in our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy.

In considering what information we publish we have thought about what information people might be interested in, what information other police services and other public sector bodies publish and the guidance published by the Government Equalities Office and the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).

Whilst we have given thought to what people might want us to publish, we also welcome suggestions from the communities of Cleveland. If you have any suggestions for future publications please e-mail us at E: [email protected]
