A briefing was held this morning at Cleveland Police headquarters in connection with this month’s Operation Artemis, focussing on serious violence.
Deputy Chief Constable Victoria Fuller and Temporary Detective Superintendent Deb Fenny spoke to officers about the importance of tackling serious violence and keeping our communities safe.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested at an address in Wilson Street, Hartlepool, on suspicion of section 18 GBH with intent. He has been taken to police custody.
A 26-year-old woman was arrested in the Tithebarn Road area of Stockton on suspicion of the importation of class B drugs. This follows the seizure of 7kg of cannabis. She remains in police custody.

A further two arrests have been made in the Hartlepool area.
A man aged 46 has been arrested on suspicion of theft.
A woman aged 46 has been arrested for breach of bail.
Both have been taken into police custody.

A total of nine people have now been arrested as part of a day of action to tackle serious violence, after five further arrests were made…
Two males aged 42 and 18 and a woman aged 36 have been arrested in the Hartlepool area on suspicion of section 18 assault. All have since been bailed with conditions.
A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault against a boy under 13 years old and possession of indecent images of children in Redcar & Cleveland. The man remains in police custody.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of breach of notification requirements in the Stockton area. He remains in police custody.
As part of Operation Artemis today, which focuses on tackling serious violence, PC Geoff Coggin attended Hartlepool College of Further Education and delivered educational inputs to around sixty students aged 16-19.
PC Coggin talked to the students about the night-time economy and covered the topic of spiking, along with campaigns such as ‘Ask for Angela’ and ‘One Punch’.

A 56-year-old man has been arrested in Middlesbrough on suspicion of harassment, following an alleged offence in the Redcar & Cleveland area. The man remains in police custody.
PC Hussain alongside neighbourhood team officers are at Ennis Square in Dormanstown as part of Operation Artemis to engage with the community and raise awareness of how we’re tackling serious violence. Please join officers at Ennis Square to discuss any concerns or issues.
Today, school liaison officers delivered educational inputs around online safety and knife crime to over sixty pupils at Bankfields Primary School.
The knife crime input was also delivered to over thirty pupils at Acklam Grange School earlier in the week, to fit in with school schedules.
An input around the ‘One Punch’ campaign was also delivered to pupils at Sacred Heart and Outwood Academy.

A 24-year-old man has been interviewed in relation to a reported rape in the Middlesbrough area. The man has now been released under investigation, whilst enquiries continue.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape in the Hartlepool area and he remains in police custody.
Also in Hartlepool, a man aged 57 has been detained after reportedly being found in possession of class C drugs. The man will be interviewed by officers.
Officers carrying out engagement in the Wellington Square area of Stockton as part of today’s Operation Artemis gave crime prevention advice to members of the public and engaged with people who raised concerns.
As part of today’s Operation Artemis to tackle serious violence, Hartlepool Neighbourhood Officers conducted reassurance patrols around Hartlepool town centre this afternoon, along with Community Wardens from Hartlepool Council.
They chatted with shop staff around the threat of violence to shop workers, with a focus on the bottom of the ramp on York Road which has recently seen issues with aggressive begging.
Officers in Hartlepool conducted arrest attempts in Raby Road in the town this afternoon for a man who is wanted in connection with a series of violent offences.
Arrest attempts for wanted suspects will continue throughout the day.
