I write in connection with your request dated 24th August and received in this office on 27th August 2019. I note you seek access the below information:
Please can you tell me how many Brexit related crimes have been recorded for the calendar years 2016, 2017 and 2018?
1) can you break down this data by offence type?
2) if there is time can you specify the suspect's age?
3) if there is time can you provide any details about what happened?
Having made enquiries within the Force our answer to your request, on this occasion, must be no information held. However, In accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to your request but unfortunately there is no recordable offence under ‘Brexit related crimes’ and we do not have any way of providing this information unless we manually retrieve and read every crime which is a time consuming process which would initiate the excess cost exemption.
The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.
If you are not satisfied with this response or any actions taken in dealing with your request you have the right to request an independent internal review of your case under our review procedure. The APP College of Policing guidance states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced.
