I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request, Below is your request and our response.
Could you please supply me with the following information concerning police incidents involving doormen, bouncers, and security staff, as outlined below.
- How many times were police called to incidents in bars and clubs in Cleveland between 2019-2023?
The information located has been collated by searching all crimes valid between 1st January 2019 and 1st January 2024 with the MO location description of ‘Hospitality; Bar/lounge;’ or ‘Hospitality; Club licenced;’. The below results do not contain any other location description results.
The below table shows the volume of CRIMES with the MO location as above in the years requested.

- For question A, of these incidents, how many resulted in charges filed against bouncers/door staff?

- Are there any ongoing training programs or initiatives aimed at preventing misconduct among door/security staff in the years 2019-2020, 2020-2021,2021-2022, 2022-2023?
This training is regulated by the government body SIA, they have to take regular training and sometimes additional training is required
- Do you have a procedure to feedback data on incidents to local licensing authorities?
Yes we have an information sharing protocol with both the L.A. Licensing authority and the SIA so should there be any concerns around a member of door staff or a company as a whole we can feed that back.

The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.
