I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request. Below is your request and our response.
I will clarify my FOI request, you will know every hotel used for asylum seekers/refugees within your police forces area, so a simple search will show the number of times you attended these hotels (that you are aware of) and the type of offences you attended for, thus this will easily give you the figures for crimes committed by asylum seekers/refugees on you computer records,
It will be simple for your force to check your all-criminal offences such as, thefts, sexual offences, drugs, offensive weapons, assault, arson, property damage, so there will be no need to say checking your records using a 3-word search system so cannot be accessed without a manual search that is to expensive.
So if you do your search to asylum/refugee hotels that your force attended this would show offences committed at the hotels and as they are solely used for asylum seekers/refugees, so you would have the figures without doing a long manual costly search.
As I expect your records for asylum seekers/refugees will be the same as that of British citizen's your force, I am making this FOI request under the open justice rule, the equality act 2010, discrimination laws, ECHR laws and race laws.
1/ what was the total number of crimes committed by asylum seekers/refugees.
2/ how many offensive weapon offences were committed.
3/ how many sexual offences were committed.
4/ how many theft offences were committed
5/ how many drug offences were committed
6/ how many assaults were committed
7/ how many immigration offences were committed
You can find these offences when you search the home office asylum/refugee hotels you attended, which will show the offence your force attended for, there is no need to claim you would require a costly manual search.
As stated in our previous response (FOI 214 & 307) we do not have a marker for asylum seeker or the accommodation therefore our answer is no information held. Furthermore, any offences we find at the hotels listed, we cannot identify if the person’s involved are asylum seekers for the above reason.
The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.
If you are not satisfied with this response or any actions taken in dealing with your request, you have the right to request an independent internal review of your case under our review procedure. The APP College of Policing guidance states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced.
Yours sincerely
