FOI 417-24 Financial Crime & Fraud

I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request. Below is your request and our response.

Total Number of Reported Cases: Please provide the total number of reported cases of financial crimes and financial fraud in your city for the period from 2020 to 2024.

  1. a) We hold and record data using the home office counting rules under either the home office code or the offence therefore you would need to provide the either of the above using the link below for the offences you are requiring the information for.

However regarding Fraud crime, data on disseminations to Forces is held by the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) within the City of London Police and as such requests for this information should be directed to them.

Year-on-Year Trends: An annual comparison detailing the number of reported cases for each year within the requested timeframe, to identify potential trends in the occurrence of financial crimes and fraud within your city.

  1. a) No information held.

 

The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.

 

If you are not satisfied with this response or any actions taken in dealing with your request, you have the right to request an independent internal review of your case under our review procedure. The APP College of Policing guidance states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced.
