I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information. Below is your request and our response.
This is a freedom of information request where I seek the following information
- Of the reported domestic abuse incidents in your force between 2019-2024 how many of the victims were pregnant? Please give a yearly breakdown.
- a) Whether the victim is pregnant is recorded on the public protection notice on the DA incident.

2020 – 522
2021 – 402
2022 – 401
2023 – 314
2024 – 113 (to the end of April)
- Of those reported incidents how many of those resulted in the perpetrator being charged with an offence? Please give a yearly breakdown and if within cost limits a breakdown of offence types.
- a) Not all the above incidents are crimes.

- If you do not currently keep such statistics on domestic violence pregnancy, what is the reason for this?
- N/A. However for future refence, Information is defined in section 84 of the Act as 'information recorded in any form'. The Act therefore only extends to requests for recorded information. Explanations, clarifications or comments on the public authority’s business is not a valid question.

The Freedom of Information Code of Practice (see below link) states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced. Public authorities are not obliged to accept internal reviews after this date.
