I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request, Below is your request and our response.
I would like to know how many offences have been recorded under the new non-fatal strangulation offence (s75A Serious Crime Act 2015 (as amended by Domestic Abuse Act 2021), since it was introduced in June 2022. Please provide the following information:
Please see below data from 1st June 2022 to April 2024, gathered by searching 008/77 – Non-fatal strangulation and suffocation. We are unable to separate the data between strangulation and suffocation.

If it is feasible to do so, please distinguish between data for crimes recorded as non-fatal strangulation (defined in s75A Serious Crime Act 2015, as amended by Domestic Abuse Act 2021) and crimes recorded as non-fatal suffocation (defined in s75B Serious Crime Act, as amended by Domestic Abuse Act 2021.)
