I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request. Below is your request and our response.
How many homophobic attacks or assaults (including sexual) have been reported in the last six years? Broken down into 12-month period.
- a) Below figures are all crimes that have a homophobic/sexual orientation qualifier broken down by the years requested.

Please can I know the amount reported per month from January 2024 – present?
Please can I know how many of these homophobic attack or assault reports resulted in an arrest and/or charge in the last six years? Broken down in a 12-month period.
Please can I know the number of arrests and/or charges per month from January 2024 – present?

It the duty of Cleveland Police to identify, apprehend suspects, decisions regarding prosecutions are the responsibility of the Crown Prosecution Service and Convictions is that of HM Courts Service therefore Conviction data is held by HM Courts.
Please note that all statistical data supplied in relation to Freedom of Information requests is a snapshot of data held at the time the request was received by the Freedom of Information office and is subject to constant change/updates.
The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.
