I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request. Below is your request and our response.
I am seeking information from your organisation about knife-enabled crime by young people.
Between (and including) the date periods - 1 January 2020 to 1 January 2024, and 1 January 2024 to 11 April 2024 – please provide the following calendar yearly figures for:
o b) of which how many committed by people aged 16-19,
Please note that knife-related crime refers to offences made with bladed objects and can include (but are not limited to) possession, assault, threats or use of violence, grievous bodily harm, wounding, harassment, rape, robbery, criminal damage and affray.
Note that the knife crime figures provided are based on the HO definition of Knife crime, and the offences for weapon possession are not included.
For the question relating to Education institutions, the analyst has searched this based on the location description being completed with ‘College’ or ‘University’, and there were 0 results for this. This field is not mandatory and not always completed so this may be reflected in the 0 results for this type of location.

Please also note that the analyst has only included suspects with a crime outcome that is solved, and removed any outcomes that have no action taken for example, if it is not clear the suspect committed the crime.
*The last row is based on any recorded crime, where the suspect is aged 16-19 years old. Again, the caveat for outcomes stands with this one too.
