I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request.  Below is your request and our response.

 

How many evictions did your constabulary enforce under section 144 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, per year, between 2013 and 2023?

 

• No information held.

 

How many arrests were made under section 144 of the LAPSO Act 2012, per year, between 2013 and 2023?

 

Please note we can only go back to 2020 with this system and not to 2013.

• There was 1 arrest in 2020 and 2 in 2021. None since.

Arrests under: CCCJS code LA120001 - Knowingly as a trespasser live / intend to live in a residential building.

Of these, how many were charged for the offence of squatting in a residential building per year, between 2013 and 2023?

 

• Of these None were charged.

How many convictions were secured for the offence of squatting in a residential building per year, between 2013 and 2023?

 

• It is the duty of Cleveland Police to identify and apprehend suspects, decisions regarding prosecutions are the responsibility of the Crown Prosecution Service and Convictions is that of HM Courts Service therefore Conviction data is held by HM Courts.
