I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request. Below is your request and our response.
Have you or your authority ever instructed your officers, through word of mouth or written instruction, to only recommend and/or make the public aware of Police CPI Ltd (trading as Secured by Design) certified crime prevention products? Y or N? If yes, please supply copies of the instructions.
Have you or your authority ever given permission to Police CPI Ltd for the names of the latter’s employees, purporting to be serving Designing Out Crime Officers, to be listed on your website, and/or under your authority’s name on their website? Y or N?
In the past 2 years, have you or your authority or any organisation you are aware of made any assessment of Police CPI Ltd.’s capabilities with regard to the technical expertise necessary, and their qualifications to assess and certify all crime prevention products to be brought to the attention of the public and victims by your officers. Y or N? If yes, please provide copies of these assessments.
Have you, the Chief Constable, responsible for the expenditure of taxpayers’ money to purchase services from Police CPI Ltd. ever sat on the board of that private company while employed as a police officer. Y or N?
We have looked at the content of your above question and must advise you that we consider the Freedom of information Act 2000 Exemption 21 (Information Accessible by other means) is engaged in relation to this request this is a class based and absolute exemption, requiring no prejudice or public interest to be considered.
If you visit Home | Cleveland Police and search for annual statement of accounts any related parties are disclosed within these documents.
The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.
Having made enquiries within the Force above is all the information we hold however, the OPCC might hold some further information, and this would need to be requested from them via [email protected]
If you are not satisfied with this response or any actions taken in dealing with your request, you have the right to request an independent internal review of your case under our review procedure. The Freedom of Information Code of Practice (see below link) states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced. Public authorities are not obliged to accept internal reviews after this date.
