I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request. Below is your request and our response.
Since 2019 how many dog attacks have been reported each year, and if possible, broken down into breeds?
- a) The analyst has provided the number of crimes regarding the below Home office offence:
008/21 - Person in charge allowing dog to be dangerously out of control in public place injuring any person.

2020 – 182
2021 – 236
2022 – 222
2023 – 278
2024 – 363
How many dog on human attacks have, to your knowledge, resulted in hospitalisations each year since 2019?
- a) We do not record if it resulted in hospitalisation. The below figure are extracted from the above crimes MO injury field however this is not a mandatory field and is often not completed.

How many reports of XL bully attacks since 2019, and have you noticed a decrease since the 1st February 2024?
- a) No information held; we do not record this.
Which dog breed carried out the most attacks each year since 2019?
- a) No information held; we do not record this.
