FOI 26/25 Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (Clare's Law)

I write in connection with regards to your Freedom of Information request.  Below is your request and our response.

 

I would like to file an FOI request for the following data, pertaining to the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (Clare's Law), for each annual period from 2014* - 2024 inclusive.

Within each period that follows, please could you provide:

How many DVDS requests were received within each period?

2014. a) The table below includes all DVDS applications received each calendar year for Right to Ask and Right to Know. Clare’s Law began in March 2014.

How many of those requests within each period were fulfilled?

1. a) Some applications from December 24 are still pending an outcome so these have not been included in the outcome tables.

Below is the volume of applications which resulted in a disclosure. Disclosure includes all those given or transferred to another force to be given.

How many of those requests within each period were rejected?

And, if retrievable, reason(s) for rejection?

1. a) No information held we do not hold data on those that do not meet the criteria. There is no outcome of rejected.

We can report on how many applications resulted in non-delivery or non-disclosure as below.

Non-delivered can result if the person can’t be located or if they refuse to accept the information.

Non-disclosure could be that there was nothing relevant to disclose, that they are not in a relationship or if the application is a duplicate.

The periods in question are from 01 January to 31 December (inclusive) within each year 2014 - 2024 (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024).

 

For example, in 2014, between 01 Jan - 31 Dec inclusive, X DVDS requests were received, X were fulfilled, X were rejected. Of those rejected, X number were rejected owing to X reason, and X were rejected owed to X reason.

*Or as the scheme was implemented – please specific.

 

Having made enquiries within the Force above is all the information we hold.

 

Please note that all statistical data supplied in relation to Freedom of Information requests is a snapshot of data held at the time the request was received by the Freedom of Information office and is subject to constant change/updates.

 

The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.

 

If you are not satisfied with this response or any actions taken in dealing with your request, you have the right to request an independent internal review of your case under our review procedure. The Freedom of Information Code of Practice (see below link) states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced. Public authorities are not obliged to accept internal reviews after this date.
